NISGA’A LISIMS GOVERNMENT
Nelson Leeson, President of the Nisga’a Nation, today expressed the satisfaction of Nisga’a Lisims Government that allegations of financial wrongdoing relating to a former director of the Terrace Nisga’a Society will finally be adjudicated by the courts.
Leeson’s comments were made in response to the news that charges have been laid against former Nisga’a Urban Local Representative Charles McKay.
“Nisga’a Lisims Government brought this matter to the attention of the police nearly four years ago”, said Leeson. “We have fully cooperated with the police throughout their lengthy investigation of the matter. We have every confidence in the courts, and we are certain that the matter will be fully and fairly adjudicated.”
Leeson expressed the hope that the news will go some way towards clearing the air in relation to the matter. “Rumours have been circulating in relation to this matter for some time. Now that the matter is before the courts, people will know that we have acted appropriately in every respect.”
